So what are our favourite top ten Purple tracks?     Here's a glimpse into our personal tastes (of Purple!)

Jeremy: This is an impossible task and if you asked me tomorrow, it would probably be different!     To make it a little easier, I've gone for some of the lesser known tracks, and only one from each album....
  • Bloodsucker
  • -   So good they re-recorded it for the 'ABandOn' album.
  • Fools
  • -   Great dynamics, the light and shade gives the riff extra impact.
  • Never Before
  • -   A great groove.     I love the juxtaposition of riff and vocals, it reminds me of 'Fools' from 'Fireball'.
  • Rat Bat Blue
  • -   Fantastically groovy riff.
  • Sail Away
  • -   I love this album.     It's probably my favourite all-time album for drums - Paicey shows just how musical they can be - air drums anyone?
  • Soldier Of Fortune
  • -   This never fails to move me each time I hear it.
  • Gettin' Tighter
  • -   Terrifically funky.
  • Ted The Mechanic
  • -   Practically cried tears of joy when I first heard this song it excited me so much!
  • Any Fule Kno That
  • -   Another fantastic album with the enormously talented Mr Morse.
  • Sun Goes Down
  • -   A more commercial sounding album overall, but with some great rockers, and this is one of them!

    Nick:
  • Burn
  • -   Paice's snare work - quality.
  • Lay Down, Stay Down
  • -   Groovy!
  • Speed King
  • -   So good I bought the bass pedal.
  • The Aviator
  • -   Folky intro....
  • Fireball
  • -   Love the free jazz feel.       (Jazz eh?... sounds like Nick's been dipping his fingers in acid again....)
  • Stormbringer
  • -   Thumpin'
  • Lazy
  • -   Great shuffle, man.
  • Space Truckin'
  • -   Galactic Yorkie bars.
  • Hush
  • -   Classic 60's rock.
  • Perfect Strangers
  • -   When I first heard this it blew me away.

    Neil:
  • Wring That Neck
  • -   Love this song - a great riff to play - keeps you on your toes!
  • Child In Time
  • -   Classic - great with red wine and a joint!
  • No One Came
  • -   It's got balls!
  • Strange Kind Of Woman
  • -   Makes me want to jump.   Great organ / guitar riff, and I really like the '96 remix.
  • Highway Star
  • -   The best of the rest.
  • Lazy
  • -   Lazy by name, but it's not a lazy one to play!
  • Burn
  • -   Wish I was a fly on the studio wall when this one was being made.
  • Stormbringer
  • -   Love it.   Say no more.
  • Perfect Strangers
  • -   Love playing this song - it has a real mystical vibe.
  • Sometimes I Feel Like Screaming
  • -   Just love the feel (but it doesn’t make me want to scream!)

    Paul:

  • Mistreated
  • -   Masterpiece!!!!!     Blackmore's Guitar gives me goose bumps throughout.     Coverdale's vocals are spot on-   Totally FAB!!!!

  • Fingers To The Bone

  • Speed King
  • -   ROCK OUT TIME!!!!     This song ROCKS!!!!     Very cool song for LONG guitar/keyboard jam!
  • Child In Time
  • -   What can I say...AMAZING!!!!!     The way it builds, the vocals/screams and that guitar solo which is just Ritchie going for it!
  • Haunted
  • -   I have played this song so many times since getting 'Bananas'.     Fave track off that album!     Fantastic vocals by Gillan throughout.     A very moving song.
